Cancer care can become a maze of appointments, unfamiliar language, decisions, forms, phone calls, and insurance requirements. It is hard to manage all of that while also dealing with a and treatment.
What We Are Building
The Advocacy program is being designed to connect you with a sister who has been through this, a professional medical advocate, or both. The right support will depend on your needs and where you are in the process.
An advocate may be able to help you:
- Prepare questions before appointments and take stock of what you heard afterward.
- Understand the next step in a care plan and identify questions for your medical team.
- Organize records, appointments, medications, and follow-up tasks.
- Work through medical office delays, referrals, authorizations, and insurance loops.
- Find the right person to contact when you feel stuck or do not know what to ask.
- Feel less alone during difficult conversations and decisions.
Advocacy is meant to help you participate confidently in your care. It does not replace your doctors, nurses, insurance professionals, legal counsel, or emergency services.
